About Me

jo_kirwin.jpgI find that regular yoga practice helps me through all the challenges and little triumphs in life. I live in Weaverham my husband and three children who also practice yoga for health and fun!

I first remember practising yoga when I was a child and teenager with my Mum. My brother and I loved showing off “the crow” a lovely balance on the hands with the knees resting on the elbows.

My interest reignited when I went to baby yoga classes with my first son. We had so much fun! I started to go to regular adult classes and then trained as a baby yoga teacher. I developed my knowledge through reading and found myself naturally drawn towards Sivananda yoga.

I started my training with Yoga for the Special Child after my second son was left with complex special needs from pneumoccocal meningitis at the age of 4 months. This is where we really discovered the healing power of yoga. I did my Basic Certificate with Jo Manuel at The Special Yoga Centre in London, and my advanced 1 training with Sonia Sumar. Sonia is also a devotee of Sri Swami Sivananda and I was blessed and honoured when she accepted me as her student and became my Guru.

My special yoga training is ongoing and I plan to attend Advanced 2 this summer. I hope one day to travel to the Satchidananda ashram in the USA and to explore India and its yoga culture.
